Thruig is an Earthtongue from way back. He left Mirabar for personal reasons ages ago and while in Waterdeep has avoided using the family name while engaged in various financial "dealings". Thurig has taken the opportunity to escort VerhaalÓinarthos, who is a young ranger he encountered, to Mirabar. She has his old family name and he has adopted a bit of a protector role to her. Now that he is back in Mirabar he has to decide if he will reclaim his Earthtongue name.
Thruig's true identify is suspected by VerhaalÓinarthos who heard Dulgon identify his as an Earthtongue.
